ING GreenCARE wins award

ING Car Lease proves its green credentials

Bracknell-based ING Car Lease has scooped one of the fleet industry’s most coveted awards for its innovative environmental tool that helps businesses reduce the carbon emissions from vehicle fleets. The top ten leasing company was awarded the Environment Award in the 2010 Fleet World Honours which took place at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall in May, for its new product, GreenCARE.

The Fleet World Honours are presented annually to those within the fleet industry that have achieved the highest possible level of excellence in their sector. ING Car Lease’s winning product, GreenCARE, was the industry’s first comprehensive online environmental analysis tool. It allows all customers to access data on the environmental performance of their fleet at the click of a mouse and breaks this down by CO2 emissions, manufacturer, engine size and fuel type, therefore clearly identifying where environmental cost savings can be made.

What sets ING’s GreenCARE apart from other environmental solutions is that clients can compare their fleet against a range of averages including ING’s total customer fleet and the best ING fleet average (ING’s best 50+ vehicle fleet).

The Fleet World Honours were judged by a panel of leading fleet journalists including Steve Moody, editor of Fleet World and key members of the editorial team. Chairman of judges, Steve Moody said: “Reducing fleet emissions is an ongoing project in which every fleet manager needs all the help they can get. When ING Car Lease launched its GreenCARE service – it stands for Calculate and Reduce Emissions – it took the old adage that ‘if you can’t measure it, you can’t mange it’ to heart and provided its clients with a uniquely useful business tool.”

Mark Gibson, marketing manager at ING Car Lease added: “Winning the Fleet World Honours Environmental Award for GreenCARE is a fantastic achievement for the business and a true testament to the hard work, extensive research and customer focus groups we undertook to develop the product. GreenCARE allows businesses to make a real difference to the environmental performance of their fleet, giving them access to detailed vehicle information, right down to which registrations are the worst performers.”

ING Car Lease is currently working on phase two of GreenCARE which will enable companies to use scenario planning to assess how their fleet will perform using a set of variables, such as swapping vehicle makes, engine sizes and annual mileage. The system will also analyse the current fleet using a whole life cost calculation and report on what the future true cost of a customer’s fleet will be over the next few years. This will allow fleet managers to plan cost reductions as well managing down their fleet’s environmental impact.
