ING GreenCARE is launched
Top ten leasing company ING Car Lease has launched GreenCARE, the industry’s first comprehensive online analysis tool that allows companies to access data on the environmental performance of their fleet at the click of a mouse. Using the specially developed software package, ING customers are able to obtain detailed information broken down by CO2 emissions, manufacturer, engine size and fuel type and can compare their fleet against ING’s ‘average’ and ‘best in class’ performers.
GreenCARE is being rolled out to all ING Car Lease customers as part of its ongoing fleet consultancy service. It will enable fleet managers to assess the environmental impact of their vehicles and work out where cost savings can be made. Importantly, it will save managers time analysing their fleets as the data is already compiled for them and can be presented as a series of graphs or exported into excel spreadsheets.
What sets ING’s environmental solution, GreenCARE, apart from others is that clients can compare their fleet against a range of averages including ING’s total customer fleet, the ING fleet and the best ING fleet average (ING’s best 50 vehicle fleet). It also allows customers to see their fleets’ variance from the ING fleet as a percentage. Clients can also drill down to analyse individual vehicles at their separate branches and compare each of those to the specified averages.
Don Potts, environmental expert, commented: “There are a lot of carbon measurement tools around now but ING’s solution really takes the issue of carbon reduction to the next level. GreenCARE sets a new standard for fleet managers who are serious about monitoring and reducing their carbon footprint.”
“ING GreenCARE is a system we have been developing for some time now and we’re really excited to be launching it to our customer base,” explained Diarmuid Fahy, head of risk at ING Car Lease. “We have worked to ensure the product is as valuable as it can be and that it will make significant environmental savings.
“As soon as a fleet manager logs into GreenCARE they can clearly see how their fleet compares to our other customers and they can see where improvements can be made, right down to which registrations are the worst performers. It also allows for a comparison of annual fuel spend, so there really is the potential for cost savings. So far the feedback we have had from those that have tested the system has been really positive.”
ING Car Lease is currently working on phase two of GreenCARE which will enable companies to use scenario planning to assess how their fleet will perform using a set of variables, such as swapping vehicle makes, engine sizes and annual mileage. The system will also analyse the current fleet using a whole life cost calculation and report on what the future true cost of a customer’s fleet will be over the next few years. This will allow fleet managers to plan cost reductions as well managing down their fleet’s environmental impact.
