    Western Extension to the Congestion Charge

     

    As you may or may not be aware the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone has approved plans to extend the central London Congestion Charging Zone.  From 19th Februay 2007 the Congestion Charging Zone will be extended to include the areas of:

     

    - Bayswater

    - Notting Hill

    - North & South Kensington

    - High Street Kensington

    - Knightsbridge

    - Chelsea

    - Belgravia

    - Pimlico

     

    Resident may be entitled to a 90% discount when paying the charge, so could be paying £4 a week (for five consecutive charging days) instead of the £8 daily charge, once fully registered.  If residents apply now they will be able to take advantage of the discount if they currently drive in the existing charging zone. (minimum payment is £4 for five consecutive charging days).  Residents can now provisionally register for the 90% residents dicsount online.

     

    Once the extended scheme comes into operation, the chargeing hours within the zone will be shortened by 30 minutes from the current 7.00am - 6.30pm to 7.00am to 6.00pm.

     

    There are a number of free through routes that enable vehicels to cross the zone during charging hours without paying.  For further information  on how to pay, exemptions, discounts and a map showing the Western Extension please visit: www.cclondon.com
