Yorkshire Ambulance Service chooses ING

Top ten fleet management company ING Car Lease is providing Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) with 80 Rapid Response Vehicles (RRVs) on a four year / 100,000 mileage lease deal.

The Vauxhall Zafiras have all been converted into RRVs, using YAS’s specifications, and include radio communication, medical equipment such as defibrillators and oxygen, as well as distinctive livery and beacon lights to enable them to arrive quickly at the scene of an emergency. All the cars are being delivered to the Yorkshire Ambulance Services on a rolling basis, with the full fleet being delivered and commissioned before the new performance targets are introduced in April.

Mark Pedley, head of public sector accounts at ING Car Lease, said: “Investing in a more modern, reliable fleet makes a great deal of sense to Yorkshire Ambulance Service, which covers a population of around five million people in the region. Responding to over 500 life threatening emergencies per day, Yorkshire Ambulance Service will be using these vehicles to respond to patients who urgently need the services of a paramedic.”

The 80 vehicles will cover the whole of the Yorkshire region and will respond to emergencies in and around the cities of Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield and Wakefield.

Mick Farmer, Yorkshire Ambulance Service’s assistant director of fleet, said: “Fleet efficiencies and speed of response are two areas where ING have shown real commitment, which is important to us. Replacing some of Yorkshire Ambulance Service’s older vehicles with brand new ones helps us to serve our patients better with a more modern and reliable fleet.”
