As a company vehicle driver, you have certain responsibilities which ING and your employer would want you to observe.  The list is not exhaustive but essential to ensure safety and best practice

  • Have your vehicle serviced in accordance with the manufacturers recommended intervals ensuring the dealer stamps the service book.
  • Regularly check your oil and coolant levels.
  • Check your tyre pressures, tyre tread depth and condition frequently.
  • Ensure your vehicle is of a roadworthy condition at all times.
  • Make sure all lights are in working order.
  • Display a valid road fund licence (tax disc).
  • Please pay all fines promptly to avoid increased costs and unnecessary inconvenience.
  • We would recommend you carry your driving licence with you at all times.
  • Should you wish to take your vehicle abroad, you will need to request travel documentation in advance of your departure date. Please contact your driver helpline number and a member of the team will supply this for you. Orginal documentation must be carried in the vehicle whilst out of the UK.
  • For all vehicles registered in the UK*, an MOT is required three years from the date of registration.
  • Wrong fuel type?
We are finding increasing numbers of drivers filling up with the wrong type of fuel for their vehicle, i.e. putting petrol in their diesel car. Please can we remind you that even £1 worth of the wrong type of fuel in your car can cause a problem to the engine. If you should accidentally put the wrong type of fuel in your car, please, under no circumstances, start or drive the car - you will do more damage!
  • Mobile Telephones
From 17th February 2007 the Road Safety Act is introducing new tougher penalties. You could receive a fixed penalty notice of £60 and a 3 point endorsement on your licence if you are caught using your hand held mobile phone whilst driving. The Road Safety Act also introduces the same penalties if the driver does not have proper control of their vehicle i.e. if they are distracted whilst using a hands free mobile phone.  If you as the driver or the police decide to take the matter to court rather than issue/settle the fixed penalty notice you could fac a maximum fine of £1000 for cars of £2500 for vans, lorries, buses or coaches.
  • Supply of mobile phone hands-free kits are availiable through Car Scheme Administrators.

As the driver and keeper of your vehicle, it is your legal responsibility to ensure that the vehicle has a valid MOT test certificate should it require one.
